Socialising is an important part of young people’s lives and should be encouraged and supported.

However getting home safely after a night out can be an ongoing challenge for many young
people. While it is common for young people to travel by car, driving themselves
and their peers to and from social activities has been identified as a high injury risk
activity. Limited alternative transport options further compound the challenge of
getting home safely.

As part of our work in the area of 'Safe Alternative Transport' Youthsafe held a forum on Thursday 26 November 2009 which presented a range of community transport
options suitable for young people as well as exploring ways to assist programs address
local community needs, be successful and most importantly be
sustainable.

Presentations from the forum are available for download now – just click on the links below to open the pdf files.
